스보임 와 함께 계속 같이 언급되는 지역이다.
The border of the Canaanites was from Sidon —as you go toward Gerar —to Gaza —as you go toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah , and Zeboiim—to Lasha .
고대 시대에 이 지역에 왕들 사이에 전쟁이 있었다.
2 3 All these joined together in the valley of Siddim (also called the Salt Sea).
4 They served Chedorlaomer for twelve years, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5 In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer came, and the kings who were with him, and struck the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim ,
6 and the Horites in their Mount Seir , to El Paran, which is by the wilderness.
7 They returned, and came to En Mishpat (also called Kadesh ), and struck all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites , that lived in Hazazon Tamar.
8 The king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah , the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (also called Zoar ) went out; and they set the battle in array against them in the valley of Siddim
소돔 과
고모라 가 멸망할 때 같이 망한 것으로 보인다. 해당 내용이 자세히 기록된 창세기 19장에는 언급되어있지 않으나, 다른 기록에서 볼 수 있다.
that all of its land is sulfur, salt, and burning, that it is not sown, doesn’t produce, nor does any grass grow in it, like the overthrow of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah , and Zeboiim, which Yahweh overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath.
“How can I give you up, Ephraim ? How can I hand you over, Israel ? How can I make you like Admah ? How can I make you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned within me, my compassion is aroused.
결국 이 지역은 현재 사해 속에 파묻힌 것으로 추정된다.
