아둘람(Adullam) 은
David 이
사울(왕) 에게 쫓겨다닐 때 몸을 숨겼던
아둘람 동굴 로 유명한 지역이다.
Three of the thirty chief men went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam ; and the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim .

At that time, Judah went down from his brothers, and visited a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.
이후 여호수아의 가나안 정복전쟁 당시 점령되었다.
그 후 아둘람은 유다 지파에게 할당되었다.

사울(왕) 으로 부터 피해있었을 때, 빚진 자, 환난 당한 자들이 다윗을 따라 400명이 와서 다윗과 세력을 형성하였다.
1 David therefore departed from there, and escaped to Adullam ’s cave. When his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him.
2 Everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented, gathered themselves to him; and he became captain over them. There were with him about four hundred men.
3 David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab, and he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and my mother come out with you, until I know what God will do for me.”
4 He brought them before the king of Moab; and they lived with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.
5 The prophet Gad said to David , “Don’t stay in the stronghold. Depart, and go into the land of Judah .” Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hereth .
이 지역은 다윗이 목동 생활을 할 때부터 친숙한 지형으로 추정된다. 이후 다윗이 블레셋과 전쟁을 할 때도 이 지역을 주요 거점으로 삼은 것으로 보여진다.
15 Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David , into the cave of Adullam ; and the army of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim .
16 17 David longed, and said, “Oh that one would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem , which is by the gate!”
18 The three broke through the army of the Philistines , and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem , that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David ; but David would not drink any of it, but poured it out to Yahweh,
19 and said, “My God forbid me, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy?” For they risked their lives to bring it. Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.
이후
Rehoboam 왕은 이곳에 방비하는 성을 쌓았다.
5 6 7 8 9 10 Zorah , Aijalon, and Hebron, which are fortified cities in Judah and in Benjamin.
11 He fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and stores of food, oil and wine.
12 He put shields and spears in every city, and made them exceedingly strong. Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.
Nehemiah (Governor) 의 귀환시기에 사람들이 이곳에 정착하였다.
