디베료(Tiberius) 황제는 로마의 첫번째 황제인
Caesar_Augustus 의 뒤를 이어 두번째 황제가 된 인물이다.
그가 제위에 있는 동안
세례 요한 이 활동하였고, 예수님이 십자가에 돌아가실 때에도 계속 황제의 자리에 있었다.
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee , and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis , and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene ,
그래서 예수님의 공생애 활동에서 언급된 "가이사"는 이 디베료를 말하는 것이다.
Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”
22 Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”
23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them, “Why do you test me?
24 Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?” They answered, “Caesar’s.”
25 He said to them, “Then give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
At this, Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you release this man, you aren’t Caesar’s friend! Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar!”
